career:

• Before Boyzone, he worked as a mechanic
• Went to the boyzone audition but didn't make to the band it at first
• Soon 2 boyzone members quit and Mike joined the group
• Years of great international success followed
• After the Boyzone broke up, Mike started what he had always wanted to do: songwriting and singing
• He released an album called Meet Me Halfway
• After taking a break from the industry and concentrating on his family life, Michael went to college and studied musical technology and sound engineering.
• In 2004, he built is own studio at in Dublin, set up his own production company and got into writing and producing music.
• Mike also took up acting again (which he had been doing before Boyzone) at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin and later went to the US where he was trained by Brad Pitt's acting coach Roy London and shot a movie with Ben Kingsley called The Man on the Run aka Fifty Dead Men Walking (uk title).
• The second time round, Michael wants to put more of himself into Boyzone. He says "It was my own choice that I became quite silent within Boyzone and always stayed at the back. But if you stay at the back, nobody will know who you are so, you know, I just wanna bring meself forward a bit more you know. Not that I think I got anything tremendously interesting to offer to the public (laughs) but you gotta sell yourself, you know."
