Former Boyzone star Mikey Graham has spoken of his heartache over his split
from lover Karen Corradi.
The singer, who broke up with Karen after four years together, vows he'll
never love another woman.
Mikey opened his heart to the Irish News Of The World saying: "I want to
spend the rest of my life with her."
Just last year the Dublin star was making plans to walk down the aisle with
the London dancer
But after the painful split earlier this year, Mikey was left with a broken
heart...and living in hope of a reconciliation.
Mikey, 30, said: "Karen is a great woman.
"She's the only one I can see myself spending the rest of my life with.
"I've never felt that way about anyone before her and I don't think I will
again."
Mikey fell head-over-heels for the 33-year-old stunner when he met her
during a Boyzone tour in 1998.
She soon became the most important person in his life, second only to his
six-year-old daughter Hannah.
He said: "We still keep in touch and we are good friends.
"And I hope that at some stage in the future we will be reconciled. But
that's life - things go wrong and people have their ups and downs.
"I believe if it's meant to happen it will happen - I'm keeping my hopes
up."
While Mikey waits in the hope that true love will take its course, he is
keeping busy writing and producing music.
And he has just returned from England after filming the first few scenes of
his big screen debut in the movie Hey Mister DJ.
Mikey said: "I've done a couple of small scenes so far and it's really
exciting.
"I play Paddy Moore, an Irish hooligan who's a gangster's henchman. They
came to me about the role so I must have that look about me."
Mikey will return to the set in November to finish his scenes alongside
EastEnders star Mike Reid, who played Frank Butcher in the soap.
With his former bandmate Keith Duffy already ahead of him in the race for
acting recognition - after making a splash in Coronation Street - Mikey is
preparing for some flak.
He said: "People are going to say I'm just copying Keith trying to get back
in the fame game.
"But I've been quietly working on my acting career for years - it's not a
spur of the moment thing. I couldn't care less what people think of my
performance - as long as I'm happy with it."
And after taking a beating for his art, Mikey is determined to give his all
to the role.
He explained: "I have to fall down in front of the camera after being
choked.
Album
"We had to do the shot about 20 times and I was bruised and battered after
it.
"But it's all part of a day's work."
Even if Mikey's movie career takes off, he vows never to leave the music
business.
"Music will always be at the forefront of my life," he said.
"I might even release another album.
"People always write me off, but I've chosen a career in entertainment and
I'm sticking with it."
And he revealed how he coped with the dramatic change of lifestyle after
Boyzone split up.
He said: "I never went to some dark place after Boyzone.
"It was hard to get used to not being in the public eye - but I wasn't
suicidal or anything.
"There's always going to be busy and quiet patches - and hopefully this will
be a busy one."
--------------------------------------------------
It was a rainy Friday night in Dublin, but former Boyzone star Mikey Graham
took centre stage at the IFC at the premiere of his first movie Fatal
Deviation - showed audiences just what a star he is.
The low-budget martial arts flick, which was made in 1998 at the height of
Boyzone's fame, has a gun-yeilding Mikey jumping across the screen in his
portrayal of a drug dealing bad guy. While a far cry from his clean-cut pop
image, many cinema goers in attendance agreed that he was, "The best actor
in it!"
Looking the best he has in years, a trim and well groomed Mikey is now
actively seeking more film work and has signed up with a new agent to help
him find more acting jobs.
Mikey was first told about the Irish movie when a mechanic who was fixing
his Harley Davidson explained that he was a kick boxing champion and that he
was taking part in a low-budget martial arts flick.
Interested in trying something different Mikey said he'd love to be part
of it, and was then quickly signed up for a three-day shoot - despite the
fact producers couldn't afford to pay him.
